Alight Solutions Is Looking For A Director, Communications. 

 

As part of an industry-leading team, you will help drive results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions as part of our Communications business group within Alight Solutions in Lincolnshire, IL.  As a Director, Communications, you will report directly to the Executive Vice President, Communications.

We have a rare opportunity for a director of communications, who will be responsible for supporting key business lines and functional leaders with strategic communication planning and execution. Additionally, all team members contribute to the company portal development and content strategy and support, as well as any number of ongoing programs and campaigns. This role will also help and/or lead crisis management and project or initiative-based communication strategies, working with business leaders and other communication team members.

Your Impact As A Director, Communications

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute the overall communication strategy for aligned business segment(s) or function(s) that considers all audiences and levels in the organization and is consistent with Alight’s communication strategy and practices and support the company’s values and goals. 
  • Cultivate trusted partnerships with senior executives to help influence communication style and effectiveness and generate results for the business.
  • Ensure the planning, development, and execution of executive communications are consistent with Alight’s brand standards and communication strategy.
  • Measure effectiveness of communication activities and use feedback to improve future efforts.
  • Work as a business partner with senior executives to support key initiatives. Responsibilities include identifying communication objectives, brainstorming creative solutions, and developing and executing communications plans using multiple communication channels. 
  • Represent aligned internal clients to ensure consistency and coordination with communications across Alight.
  • Contribute to the development and ongoing content of Spotlight, Alight’s company portal that drives the majority of all colleague communications.
  • Build understanding of external client needs and interests and reflect in internal messaging on a regular basis. May also be responsible for some direct client messaging on certain topics.
  • Collaborate closely with communicators across the team to align timing and intent of messages.
  • Use a wide range of communication deliverables—including face-to-face, video, voice, online, social media—to engage and inform all levels of colleagues globally.
  • Contribute to the overall planning and execution of global executive leadership events.
  • Supervise other communication consultants and managers on a project basis.  

You Bring Knowledge and Expertise

  • 8-10 years communication experience with an emphasis on internal or corporate communications
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to influence others
  • Proven track record of advising and partnering with senior executives on strategic issues
  • Experience in developing multi-channel internal and external communications programs
  • Ability and willingness to perform both strategic and tactical elements of the role
  • Creative thinker, with a desire and ability to seek opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Willingness to try new things, take some risks, and adapt to emerging trends
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with proven expertise in using different styles to reflect the nature of the stakeholder, audience and message
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to execute programs with speed, accuracy and efficiency
  • An uncompromising commitment to quality and detail
  • Self-motivated, self-starter with a strong desire to work entrepreneurially
  • Team oriented with a strong sense of commitment to colleagues and internal clients
  • Experience supervising other communication professionals
  • Flexibility to travel occasionally and work outside of standard office hours as needed

 

 

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline; graduate degree a plus (e.g., Communication, Journalism, English, Business).
