Alight Solutions Is Looking For A Senior Counsel


Alight Solutions seeks a high-performing attorney looking for an opportunity to join a collaborative and energetic legal department to support a rapidly transforming and dynamic business.   This position is for an experienced corporate attorney with a strong commercial background that includes substantive experience gained either at a law firm or other in-house position. Our legal team is located at Alight’s headquarters in Lincolnshire, Illinois, a northern suburb of Chicago. The position will include a special focus on negotiating complex service and license agreements with Alight’s clients and suppliers.


Your Impact As A Senior Counsel


Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strategic business partner and trusted legal advisor to senior business leaders, help advance strategic business initiatives and provide day-to-day support as a general commercial attorney.
  • Negotiate professional services agreements with Alight’s clients (both private and public sector) and vendors.
  • Partner with sales, operations, technology, finance and other internal stakeholders to ensure agreements are consistent with internal corporate policies and processes.
  • Assist with financings, intercompany arrangements and acquisitions including performing due diligence, drafting and negotiating deal documentation and coordinating closing to post closing issues. 
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of relevant regulations, laws, industry trends, and practices that may affect Alight.
  • Cooperate and assist with other legal department colleagues, including compliance, privacy, and litigation, on various matters that impact the organization.
  • Assist in driving continuous improvements, scalability and operational excellence, including development of procedures, tools and metrics to monitor use and effectiveness of legal services, and reports on such trends.
  • Undertake other key projects as determined by legal department leadership.
  • Occasional travel, including internationally, may be required depending on assigned projects.

You Bring Knowledge and Expertise:


Required Experience:

  • Share Alight’s purpose and values, including high ethical standards, teamwork, client service, work ethic and positive attitude.
  • At least five years of substantive experience as a commercial/corporate attorney as in-house counsel or with a law firm.
  • Meaningful experience in negotiating and documenting commercial transactions is required (cloud or technology based services agreements, including BPO or IT outsourcing, is valued).
  • Ability to provide good, proactive professional guidance and advice regarding commercial agreements, and sound business-focused solutions that combine excellent judgment, creativity, risk-taking, and technical expertise.
  • Ability to effectively present and communicate information to senior management and various business colleagues and successfully impact decision-making. 
  • Ability to effectively interact with a variety of external clients and vendors.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical and writing skills are required.
  • Experience in any of the following areas would be valued:  privacy (e.g., data protection or HIPAA), M&A, financing arrangements, intercompany agreements, public sector contracting.



  • Candidate must have Juris Doctor and be admitted to the bar in at least one state.
