Alight Solutions Is Looking For A Corporate Counsel

 

As part of an industry-leading team, you will help drive results for our clients by delivering innovative and effective solutions as part of our Commercial Legal business group within Alight Solutions in Lincolnshire, IL. As a Corporate Counsel, you will report directly to the VP Legal and Associate General Counsel.

 

 

Your Impact As A General Counsel

 

Alight Solutions seeks a high-performing attorney looking for an opportunity to join a collaborative and energetic legal department to support a rapidly transforming and dynamic business. This position is for a corporate attorney with a strong commercial background that includes substantive experience gained either at a law firm or other in-house position. Our legal team is located at Alight’s headquarters in Lincolnshire, Illinois, a northern suburb of Chicago. The position will include a special focus on negotiating complex service and license agreements with Alight’s clients and suppliers.

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a business partner and trusted legal advisor to our client-facing business leaders and help advance strategic business initiatives.
  • Negotiate and document a variety of transactions within Alight’s clients and selected key vendors, but mainly HR outsourcing services client engagements (prior experience in the HR field is not required).
  • Become familiar with Alight’s services and provide day-to-day support as a general commercial attorney (including the opportunity to work with senior business leadership).
  • Maintaining knowledge and understanding of relevant regulations, laws, industry trends, and practices that may affect Alight.
  • Cooperate and assist with other legal department colleagues, including compliance, privacy, and litigation, on various matters that impact the organization.
  • Assist in planning of effective legal service program, including development of procedures, tools and metrics to monitor use and effectiveness of legal services, and reports on such trends
  • Periodic travel, including internationally, may be required depending on assigned projects.
  • Undertake other assignments as determined by legal department leadership

 

You Bring Knowledge and Expertise

 

Required Experience:

 

  • Share Alight’s purpose and values, including high ethical standards, teamwork, client service, work ethic and positive attitude.
  • At least three to four years of substantive experience as a commercial/corporate attorney with a law firm or as in-house counsel.
  • Meaningful experience in negotiating and documenting commercial transactions is required (cloud or technology based services agreements, including BPO or IT outsourcing, is valued).
  • Ability to provide good, proactive professional guidance and advice regarding commercial agreements, and sound business-focused solutions that combine excellent judgment, creativity, risk-taking, and technical expertise.
  • Ability to effectively present and communicate information to senior management and various business colleagues and successfully impact decision-making. 
  • Ability to effectively interact with a variety of external clients and vendors.
  • Strong negotiation, analytical and writing skills are required.
  • Privacy (e.g., data protection or HIPAA) experience would be valued.
  • Candidate must have Juris Doctor and be a member in good standing of the Illinois bar
